Franklin's 125th Celebration

Franklin celebrated 125 years this weekend. Saturday was full of activities in the park and downtown.

It was a scorcher!

The Parade

Lola and Ella had their own float in the parade. Grandma Linda made them prairie dresses and Uncle Rob pulled them with the four wheeler. They even won a prize for the youngest participants!

The parade line-up.

Kasey drove the coupe in the parade.

Relaxing in the shade with Papa, Grandma, Papa Jay and Grandma Dee.

The Games

The Jumping Castle

Money in the wood chips.
Lola found eight cents!

The Turtle Race

Lola and Tiny Tim

And they're off!
Tiny Tim is the little guy behind all the big guys....

...however, his determination helped him pass up most of them. Unfortunatly, it was too little, too late. He ended up getting fourth in his heat which did not send him into the finals.

Lola was still proud of Tiny Tim's effort!

Ella and Teek at the starting line. Uncle Rob helped her start the race.

Teek didn't move very fast and veered away from the finish line. We're guessing he was tired after trying to escape from the pool we kept him in all night!

Each child received a pair of sunglasses for participating! Pretty cool, huh!?!?!

The Barbeque

That evening we enjoyed a free barbeque in the park. The town's old fire truck was displayed in the park so we took a few pictures of Lola perched in the seat.
